Oh I had a good run outside tonight. I havent had a runners high in a long time but its what got me through much of my early training. Many runners say its just a fable, maybe I just get high easily, Ive only gotten high off of giving birth without drugs and running so I really cant say. But running is definatly my addiction. Yah its definatly good. It didnt start coming on till the very end of my run, which is pretty common for me now, I used to only have to run for 20 minutes and Id start to feel like I was floating. But as my endurance increased I guess the threshold of my ‘high’ moved too. On the treadmill I totally dont get the same feeling at all. After about 40 minutes of running my feet stopped aching and my muscles just let loose and felt super strong, like I could run for hours. My heart rate monitor dipped from the low 150’s to the low 140’s (first time Ive experienced this) and I took off. It was AWESOME. I ran my last leg of my run much MUCH faster than the previous 40 minutes. I felt like I could run forever.
I have twelve miles schedualled on Saturday. Im hoping for another high, if I get it after 40 minutes Ill have another hour and a half to enjoy it!!
