We headed to Wendy’s for a quick lunch the other day. Beforehand I scanned the nutritional information they had online and was slightly surprised with my selection of foods under 20% calories from fat.
First of all their frosty is about 22% calories from fat. Im not a huge frosty fan so I passed on it. The next item I saw that was low fat was their plain baked potatoe, 17% calories from fat but that didnt really scream YUMMY to me. Their plain side salad has no fat and their baked lays potatoe chips are only 13% calories from fat. They also have mandrine oranges that are fat free and low fat strawberry yogurt that is only 9% calories from fat! The only sandwhich they had that was under 20% calories from fat was their ultimate chicken grill sandwhich. It was okay, it comes with this honey mustard sauce that was just ‘meh’. But the chicken was very nicely seasoned! I definatly would get this again, but go without the sauce.
Ive been searching my local stores for low fat tortilla’s for a while now and finally found some today! They are Mission 96% fat free tortillas. They have 130 calories and 1.5 grams of fat per tortilla which makes them about 10% calories from fat. Thats GREAT! The other tortillas I used to buy were something like 26% calories from fat. Im thrilled! This makes tacos, enchiladas and taco salads much lower in fat for me now! I love mexican food- I love even more low fat mexican food!! I havent cooked these yet, just eaten them as is and they dont seem much different than their full fat counterparts. Ill be sure to review them again once Ive tried them cooked in enchiladas or as a taco salad shell.
A few days ago I hurt my foot. Most likely I have plantar fasciitis and Ive been doing the best I can to treat it. I have a half marathon in less than two weeks! As soon as I got out of the shower this morning I put on some very supportive shoes and only took them off to roll frozen golf balls or massage my foot. My foot is feeling better tonight than it did yesterday night. I havent run a step though. I am really missing it. Im taking my boys out for a bike ride tomorrow to see how I do with that. I would really like to get at least one last good long work out before my half marathon. Wearing shoes all day is just killing me. Im the type of person who prefers to be barefoot, and if I HAVE to wear shoes I wear sandles.
I think I may have a slight case of plantar fascitis- which is an inflamation of the tissue that connects my heel to the base of my toes. Yesterday morning I stepped on a ‘goathead’ and it dug in pretty deep. I pulled it out and it bled pretty good. Blech! I couldnt tell if part had broken off inside my foot or not but it really hurt the rest of the day. But we had to pick up my relatives at the airport and I ended up walking a fair amount since we arrived early. I had been babying the area of my foot where I had stepped on the goathead and I think I gave myself a bit of plantar fasciitis by doing so. I ignored it and went out for my run, it was supposed to be 8 miles but after 3 I really couldnt take it anymore. I iced it when I got home and then I asked a few runner friends what they suggested. The answeres I got were lots of deep hard massage, and rolling my foot on a frozen can of juice, or rolling a frozen golfball with my foot. Ive already tried the massage with a frozen golfball and it did help for a little while. I was on my feet alot afterwards though. I needed tog et some work done. Normally I would try to make up the rest of the run I missed but Im just going to try and stay off my feet for a while.
Yesterday was my final long training run- I spent an hour on the treadmill. I felt rather heavey legged. Not tired just that my legs felt very heavey or that my gait wasnt efficient. Not that I have an efficient gate on a regular run but this felt more off than usual. I kept at it though and it turned out to be a good run. I felt great afterward and I feel great today. Today I had 30 minutes of cross training schedualled so I took the boys out in the bike trailer this evening once it cooled off. We had a nice ride. My legs were definatly feeling it though. Now its taper time! Im supposed to run 8 miles tomorrow but will put them off until Sunday. Tomorrow we are driving to Las Vegas to pick up relatives from the airport. So I dont think I can cram 8 miles into the day tomorrow. I cant take the boys on such a long run. But the next two weeks I have built in babysitters!! YAY!! As of tomorrow I have two weeks until my half marathon!
