Yesterday I had a bridal shower to attend, lots of food, cakes, and drinks. I supplied the cake (its a hobby of mine) so I made sure to slip in one teir of my low fat chocolate cherry so I could indulge in that a bit while at the shower. Once everything was set up for the cake I checked out the food. Lots of snacky food, even a couple of my favorites that I knew would be there, and knew would be so hard to resist. But I did really well. I snagged some veggies,mostly broccoli (mm yummers!) and carrots, no dip though it was the ranch type and didnt look remotley low fat. Ah well! ThenĀ I spotted prezels! Yay!! I also made sure I had a very low fat snack before I left so I wouldnt be there hungry. So the fact that I ate only a few veggies and pretzels didnt leave me deprived at all. I also skipped the alcohalic beverages, Im not a big drinker to begin with so it wasnt a big deal for me to just have some diet soda. Once the cake was cut I snagged a piece of chocolate and enjoyed that. When I got home I felt great that I had stuck to eating low fat. Sure the chinese chicken salad was calling my name, but it wasnt worth the fat and calories! I finished up my day with a very comfortable 4 mile run. It should have been 6 miles but the kids needed to get to bed and it was just way way past their bedtime.
